A friend at church recently asked me what I would charge for a small graphite 8 x 10 portrait of her 3 kids and another 11 x 14 of 6 kids. I'm pretty sure I've got an idea for what to charge, but I was wondering what my peeps on Deviantart would charge for something like this? So what would you do?

one hundred for the little portrait, and 3 for the bigger. if that makes you balk, go for half. I always tell people the highest amount so I can let them jew me down. It makes them feel better about the deal. And no, I'm not an antisemite! Everybody loves to haggle!

Perhaps you did not hear what I just said. I am a centuries old Egyptian pharoah. I was dead, but now I have come back to life!

Lol. I should hope you're not against Jews! I still think they were the most advanced (and interesting) race of people for most of pre-Christ history. But no, I understand what you mean.
I was talking to another friend and he gave the same answer. Just for the record though, I would charge that exactly for a stranger, but people who have known me all my life get offended by the idea of payment beyond the 30$ that they would pay a street artist for a caricature ("I've known you since you were drawing doodles for no money at all"). I would actually prefer to charge around 30 per face, especially on such a teeny surface, but I feel like that wouldn't fly. And I'm expecting more people to realize they want portraits closer to Christmas. I guess I just need to have more confidence when it comes to charging friends money at all. ;)
